I've been thinking I would like to add power steering to my '74 CJ5 with a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I6 but I've noticed a small glitch in my plan. The alternator currently resides in the location the power steering pump would need to be placed.
I noticed there are mounting holes on the passenger side of the block.
Is there a way to move the alternator to the passenger side of the engine? What year donor vehicles should I be looking at for parts?
Any help and photos would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Also, on a vaguely related topic... are the mounting holes (some or all) currently being used by the alternator mounting brackets the same ones to be used when adding power steering?
