Any suggestions on a 2.5 inch lift to replace my stock springs, shocks, etc? I have 1" body lift. I plan to run 32 X 11.50s.

I am looking at BDS, since I've heard such good things and I want a nice ride. Approx. $724

The bottom line is that I am weary of going too cheap and needing a kidney replacement after a few drives down the highway....

Any thoughts on ProComp? It's on sale at 4wd.com for $783 with the MX-6 shocks.

The OME is just too pricy.

Any other suggestions?

Cheers,

I'd continue to hunt/peck around the internet. There's no such "deal" from 4WD (imo), seems their prices are always high.

O.M.E. isn't too pricey.

Buy the springs each and a new set of bushings. Shop it on the Internet.

I've tried others, but put it in perspective - after all, how many sets of springs are you going to buy for the 79 as long as you own it?

BDS are good, but . . . . .:)

I had Procomp 2.5 inch with Rancho RS9000's for about ten years and it flexed really well but was too bouncy for me in my CJ5 . I like my black diamond springs I have now much better. My next set for the Scrambler will be Black Diamond or OME in the Wrangler width for the front.

i have a procomp 2.5" lift. i think its alittle stiff but when it gets warmer out im going to take the bottom leaf out and see what that does.

Treblehook, your good! I was just making a general statement about 4WD being pricey however, on this item it may be the best deal, I still shop around.

Treblehook,

I did similar research last year and found the forums are the best place to go. I have an '85 CJ w/ similar tires, and I decided to replace the OEM stuff. On another forum I came upon a chap who had three jeeps who recommended Skyjacker for a nice ride. I use my Jeep to haul my teens around in style, with the occaisional weekend romp in the Texas hill country. The Skyjacker 2.5" lift was described as giving good off road performance and a ride that won't kill your back or destroy your kidneys. It was his description that nailed it for me, describing exactly what I wanted: Significant improvement over OEM, competent off road, comfortable on highway. Was about $760 thru my local 4 Wheel Parts store (saved on s/h over Quadretec Essentials, etc) I'm about to embark upon the installation! Wish me luck ~

I just installed the BDS 2.5" lift kit that replaced procomp shocks and possibly OEM springs. It was an immediate improvement over the old stuff. Even my wife, who has been in the jeep twice before noticed the difference. Haven't had a chance to take it offroad yet but on the street a much better ride.

Jeepers - what gives? While installing the 2.5" skyjacker lift onto my '85 CJ, the front went on like butter on toast, but the rear was a beast. All that aside, my first attempt to put the first rear shock on resulted in the shock NOT REACHING down to the spring plate where the bottom bolt connects. I had to jack up the axle to raise the spring to get the shock on???? Why does that seem wrong?
