Looking to get rid of the stock duraspark ignition on my CJ5 and run a whole new system, msd or something, something that replaces the distributor and everything, anyone running a full msd ignition system on their cj? Good/bad feedback?

It's a 81 360v8 delco gm 3 wire alt, duraspark ign on it right now,

Thanks,
Nick

I ran a MSD6A for awhile til it died absolutely loved it, no experience with the distributors though. Have you thought about the good ole HEI ? I have it now and it also works great.

2nd on the HEI. Not as sexy as having big red boxes with MSD on them, but more reliable and parts are easy to come by.

Google "teamrush" and do that. Cheap, works good, and replacement parts are easy to find.

I had a Jacob's Ignition on my tan Jeep and did the teamrush to the green Jeep. Both were big improvement over stock, but couldn't tell Jacobs was any better than the teamrush. Ended up taking the Jacobs off and teamrushing tan Jeep too, just to simplify spare parts and ability to repair.

Google "teamrush"
No need to google anything. I did the TeamRush upgrade and posted the details here: http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f2/teamrush-ignition-upgrade-11416/
I love it. Great improvement. I would keep the distributor. Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. The distributor isn't the problem with your ignition.

HEI is not a bad option but if you go that route be careful of cheap HEI distributors. Mismatched gears can destroy the cam gear and the distributor gear.
