Anyone running one of the AGR SB2 steering boxes? Think my stock box is on its way out. Im all over the road and don't think it is anything else but this.

I have not used the agr box, I looked into them. Then I got some advice from a member hear about sending my box into Lee manufacturing in California. I have to say I am more than pleased. They converted my steering gear to a 16-1 variable 13-1. It is night and day different and by that I mean way better. I also replaced my steering shaft with a borgeson and put on an hd mount. My steering now is great. I would give them a call and talk to them if I where you.

I've got an AGR new box on my 1980 CJ7 . It really allowed my to go from UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED to SAFE IF YOU DON'T GO CRAZY. By that I mean I still have a worn-out tilt steering column bearings and worn-out tie rod ends, but now I am road-safe; before AGR, not.

This jeep came from out West, has rock scars to prove it, and muling over rocks with 35's has trashed the steering. But I think very well of the AGR box and I rebuilt the PS Pump at the same time. I can recommend AGR based on good sound experience.

I'm running ann SB2 for five years now and like it. The ARG pump died after a couple years. The NAPA pump works even better :D

Just take a good look at your tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, and steering shaft to make sure they are not worn out as well because a new steering box wont completely compensate for them being worn out :chug:

I run AGR steering box tapped to run there rock ram assist and pump. It works good. I probably didn't need to run the ram assist with 33's, but it takes a lot of stress off the other components. I had my original steering box rebuilt twice and it kept leaking, so I went with the AGR setup.

I have a box from PCS and like the fact i can order it with the T-bar i want. No other builder would spec a T-bar for me but PCS does it for every box. It drives perfect.

I have an AGR gearbox and it works great for me. I have a hydraulic winch so having a high power gearbox helps out there.

Before spending the money I'd listen to Gert. This may not fix your problem and the gearbox is just about the most expensive part in the steering.

Check everything else for free play first. Tie rod ends, shackle bushings etc etc.

This. I put a SB2 on my tan CJ. It steers much easier now, but I still have wander. Pretty sure my lower steering shaft will be replaced with a borgeson soon.

Also, I have HEARD that AGR quality has gone downhill over time. Apparently PSC was started by an AGR employee who left to start his own company, and PSC's quality control is supposedly a little better than the current AGR stuff (my AGR is 10+ years old so back before AGR's quality control got suspect).

Another option, which I will go with when I replace my green Jeep's box, is to get an H1 Hummer steering box. It is a direct bolt in, has a bigger piston than the stock CJ box, has variable steering ratio, and isn't as much $$$ as the PSC and AGR options.

Finally got around to inspecting my steering today. Turns out the bolts that hold the gear box to the bracket were crazy loose. Couldn't believe it. Easy fix so back in business. I think I even need to loosen up that adjustment screw a little so the steering is a little more relaxed.
Thanks guys:)
