MY alt has a big wire going to the battery with a small wire going from the clip on the side of alt to the big wire and a white wire just hanging out of the plug on the side.Where does the white wire go?
I put on a new battery but it doesnt act like it is charging.Take the ground cable off and it dies.Battery shows 12.5 volts not running 12.3 running.
Any input appreciated.

Here is a pic of my alternator wiring. The black wire goes to the Voltmeter inside.

The orange wire with the circuit breaker, which is connected to the 10g red wire on the back of the alternator, is going to the starter solenoid closest to the battery.

Hope this helps.

NEw battery new Alt.Still no charge. Does both wires out of the side have to be hooked up?

Got it fixed. Had to run a wire for the exciter side of the regulator:)
