i was thinking of things i can consider for upgrades on my engine. im going to be rebuilding my 360 prob in a year or sooner. so here is what i have done that i know of
holley 670cfm projection tbi kit
edlebrock performer intake manifold
free flowing exhaust
4 inch tall air filter

i do not know how much my engine was bored over from its previous rebuild back in the early 90s so im told and it came out of a 73 J-truck. im not sure which heads i have. fairly stock cam other then that idk

i know i want a decent sounding cam, maybe decent flowing heads headers. is there a high flow oil pump kit? just wondering. this is the first amc motor i owned other then my AMC 150 in my tj i had. and performance parts are harder to find unlike chevy parts

It's not that there aren't a lot of performance parts for AMC - it's just that compared to a SBC - they are pretty darn expensive... :)

Bulltear sells a very good oil pump kit - seal power sells stock replacements.

Bulltear HP -->> osCommerce
Bulltear HRC gear kit -->> osCommerce
Bulltear Midplate kit -->> osCommerce
Bulltear Complete kit (if you need a new timing cover) -->> osCommerce

Seal Power replacements -->> Sealed Power Z22451285 - Sealed Power Stock Replacement Oil Pumps - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I know this site used to sell a HV kit -->> NEW PARTS but I don't see it any more and I'm not so sure how effective it can be as the volume of oil is dictated by the passages cast into the timing cover.

I like Headman headers - but there many good headers for your CJ.

I run a Lunati cam in my CJ.

Being from New York you may want to buy fenderwell headers.
They do such a good job heating the floor boards you won't worry about the substandard heater.:laugh:

Down here where it's hot I like the inside the frame "Doug Thorley Tri-Y"headers. Their not cheap , but they last.;)

long horn, thank you for the oiling tips i wanna rev 5500. so that will deffing be a must. and the fenderwell headers are the out side frame rail header?? if so that would be great cause im alrdy running glasspack side pipes :driving:

grim thanks for the specs. ill try to match up when i tear it apart.

CJ- which cam do u have, and do you have a audio clip you can email. im looks for the patato patato patato sound lol.i used to have a lunati vodoo cam in my 383 sbc.also i wanna go with like 9 or 9.5 to 1 compression``im really looking for more torque, alittle more power but rev to 5500 maybe 6k

WOW!! so basicly 1300 and i get a sick *** engine. 470 hp is alot, my 670 cfm holley kit wont power that. but either way, like i said 9.5 maybe 10 to 1 ratio, run 300-350hp 320-380 trq. but my main thing is i wanna be able to rev out to about 6 grand safly.. i like that oil pan with external pick up line. i wanna try and find more info or even a kit on that. or a how-to even

i talked to someone today and he said flat top pistons, a 224 cam port and polish the heads i have, high rise intake, leave the tbi set up i have. out of frame rail headers. oh yea a msd 6 box. deffinitly i want to upgrade the oiling system.

but now what about just putting a little bit more agressive cam, long tube headers, upgrad ethe oiling system. with all new bearings in the engines (granted of the crank and everything else is good. just bore block a little for a normal rebuild.) that would be what 500 roughly. and i would be able to have that sound from the cam and still rev high?

Mine pulls plenty of vacuum for power brakes.
In my motor(401V8w/10.2comp,HEI,Eldelbrock AirGap RPM,Holley670-ORA) it pulls from 1200rpm/Vac.20Hg at idle800rpm.

WOW!! so basicly 1300 and i get a sick behind engine. ~~~
Um not quite... The heads they used alone cost $1600.00.

You need to look at the BIG total for the end price (including machine work)...

Total
$1,223.00

Big Total
$7,296.11

~~~ CJ- which cam do u have, ~~~
It was a custom grind, I called them up, gave them engine specs, drive train ratios and what my intentions were for the engine and they ground me a cam.
