Any modifications to springs going from 258 to 304?

Previously when I had a AMC 304 swapped into a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l setup I had the front springs pulled/re-arched and added 1" to the front for it to sit level. Anyone done this or used add-a-leafs?

I would think add a leafs would be the way to go if needed

No modifications necessary.
The AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l is no lightweight. It's a heavy engine, over 500 pounds. I am willing to bet the AMC 304 weighs less. Does anyone have specific weight data?

The Gen 3 (AMC 304 /360/401) V8's were about 540# dressed.
The AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l was about 525#'s dressed.
Just for comparison the 4.0 is about 490#'s dressed.


The weights are a wash.

Went from a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ,999, Dana 300 to a v8 , 727 Dana 300 on wrangler stock leaves with no change
