I should have listened to the folks on this forum that warned about buying the reproduction CJ Speedo assembly. Unfortunatly, mine lasted about 2500 miles before the odomoeter decided to CTB. I ended up buying one of the Autometer Procomp GPS speedos. This thing is fantastic. Very small antenna (Magnet, mounted mine to the left hood hinge since my jeep is fiberglass) that picks up a GPS signal and gives you a consistently accurate MPH, Trip Meter, Odometer, Speed, Longitude, Latitude, Clock and Compass. I used the Procomp (Autometer)model since my other gauges are procomp. Fabbed a piece of aluminum diamond plate to hold the new speedo. Bought an oversized Bezel to angle the gauge so I can see it. I then bought three LED lights-2 green for left/right signal indicators, and, one blue (middle light) for the high beam. Fabbed a flat piece of 1 inch plate and mounted it with the lights right above the speedo. Works GREAT!

Looks good I like it :notworthy:

Nice Job. Good clean layout and nice fabrication. I have been drooling over those fancy digital stepper motor gauges from autometer. A bit expensive though. Thanks for the post.

Nice Job. Good advice for all of us. :chug: Sometimes it is very hard to fork out the cash for such items when we would rather spend the money on something really cool to add to the jeep. Thanks for the Post. Rod

Although I wanted to keep the 'Classic' CJ dash, I decided to go with an upgrade:

Double D Fab dash:

Autometer Gauges from their custom shop:

If I were doing a restoration, and not the resto-mod that I'm in the process of, I would have stayed original.

Re: Speed Hut

Hers the gauges I'm installing in my scrambler. I like the original look with modern technology, even has built in engine light for the Howell FI.
Jeep Cluster - Now Available!

That's a lot of money!! but may be worth it long term. I would have to ponder this for a while before dropping this many Yankee dollars on a speedometer.
:D
