My left rear leaf spring (86 CJ7 ) is mildly angled to the outside of the jeep. The axle tube itself seems straight, but is angulated from the pumpkin. There is about 3/8 to 1/2 inch difference in height from the ground, comparing the tube at the pumpkin end versus the wheel end (before it flares).

Is this something that can be fixed? Is it a DIY project? If not, we have a very old and reputable frame and axle shop in town. Thought I'd ask the forum before I went to them. Also, if I straighten it, or have it straightened, should I consider gusseting the pumpkin/axle tubes? Any recommendations on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ron

They can be straightened and I have done it on my model 27 front axle housing. It takes some special tools or jig to check but in a nut shell should be all in a straight line from one axle end through the carrier bearings and out to the other axle end.
Interesting because I see you have a model 44 and the benifit of this axle is where you have a problem?
