Ok, My reverse lights haven't worked since I got the jeep and I'm just now getting around to fixing this.

What I've found is that the wiring from the backup light switch located on top of the tranny has been cut. The switch is there with one 6" wire coming out of it. I don't know the color of the wire. This is the obvious cut wire.

I looked under the hood and I think I've located where that one wire is supposed to go:

567.webp

Sorry for the black & white cell phone pic, the camera took a dunk.

Anyway, if I'm right, this is the harness that's supposed to route back to the switch on top of the tranny. Going into the harness from the firewall are 2 green w/tracer wires and what appears to be 1 white w/tracer wire.
The male end has 2 white w/tracer wires coming out that have been cut.

My question now is, where do I go from here? :D

Thanks for any insight.

John gave me the information I was looking for:

"Sounds like you got the right connector, it's the right color combination and number of wires. You need to join the two white wires with the wires coming out of the tranny. It doesn't matter which one goes where. You just need to splice them back together. Take both ends out and add wire if needed and solder the wires back together. Use shrink wrap over the splice."

I figured I'd update this for anyone else searching.
