Oakie, Cam, and I took a drive up and through Barrett Lake Trail in Central Eastern CA. Located in the Sierra NV Mountain Range of El Dorado National Forest.

More on the trail history and info here from the 4 wheel drive club that maintains trail for continued access.

To start, the gate is only about 85" - 86" wide to minimize issues further along with thin between trees and bridges etc.

We all fit through the gate though, so no issues, though the gate is in rocky ground, so you have to be on your game to get through without damage already...

Here's a few of Cam going through - he's the wide one of our bunch!

Right past the gate you turn up hill to hit the gatekeeper on the trail. For our rigs it's a bit tough and requires the right approach and line. I have a video of me going through it I will post soon. Here's a photo of Oakie partially though it.

While I was spotting Oakie, I had him take a line that should have worked, but it slipped front tire off and he came down hard on his steering linkage. Bent the tie rod and z bar pitman arm a little. We worked on it a bit, and got it ok, but it bent again further along the trail. So we removed the highlift handle, and used it to straighten it in his recovery hooks in front of his jeep, then sleeved the tie rod with said handle, and duct taped it on to keep from moving around. He made it the rest of the trail like this.

We found some pretty challenging areas along this trail - here's some more eye candy:

And some of Cam - his rig, and he, did really well on first rough trail together. It's a beast.
