This 78 CJ7 has been rewired with painless Wire system and has ran fine for several months.I go to start the Jeep this last night and it won't start. I charge it for several hours and it started. I then disconnected the charger. I come out this morning and its dead again. I tried charging for several hours and can not get the jeep to turn over. I take the battery out and take it to autozone. They tell me the battery is 97% charged and that its probably the starter.
Does anyone have an idea as to what could be causing this?

If you have a good battery, there is not a lot of stuff between it and the starter. If you can hear the starter relay click that tells you the ignition switch is sending current to it. The first thing you should check would be the battery connections, it takes a lot of juice to turn over a starter over. There could be stuff like corrosion on the battery terminals preventing the battery from sending enough current, so make sure those are clean and tight. The starter can be checked by jumping across the relay at the large terminals with a jumper cable.

Thanks for the help. I found a loose wire going to the starter relay. All is good now. Will post pics of the completed project today.
