Well I have been looking for some replacement springs for my 83 CJ7 .
I found a set of BDS springs on craigslist bran new for 300 bux. The shop that had them told me that they were 4 inch springs for CJ series. I went to BDS on line and did my homework and figured hell..this is a good deal.
So I drove an hour and a half out found the shop that I might add was nice and clean with a number of jeeps and other 4x4s in being worked on. The springs are new and heavy duty and man they look sweeet! And I even got them for $250 bux.
I got home and figured id call BDS and ask then to give me some info over the phone with the part number on the springs.

As the title states I wound up with 5 inch YJ springs..

So I figured it best to hop on the CJ forum and ask if the YJ springs will work on my CJ..The spring and eye width are 2 1/2 so I know they will fit my shackles. I know many YJ parts will transfer over to the CJ but will the springs fit?

I have spent a year rebuilding this CJ and im rather good when it comes to working on my jeep.. But I have never played with springs other than installing new bushings and such..

Help is much appreciated..:chug:

All of the parts for a Yj spring swap are stock Jeep pieces- just mixed around a little. The rear springs swap right in. For the fronts you need 2 rear C.J. shackle hangers, they are the proper width for the Y.J. springs, and 1 Y.J. spring plate for the front pass. side, and a C.J. rear pass. side spring plate for the front driver side.

With 5 in. of lift your also going to need some extended brake lines, a drop pitman arm and some degree wedges for the rear at the least.

Thanks Pete..
The jeep already has a 4 inch lift,Stainless extended brake lines, and wedges in the rear. Im in need of either a drop pitman or im thinking rod flip. I have all the goodies up front. Big Daddys tie rod and drag link, Superbox and Super pump,Borgenson steering shaft and all the heavy duty mounts.

The more I look at these springs the more Im thinking they will bolt right up the way things are.
Im not sure on the maker of the lift I have but it seems to me everything is already set up to accommodate the YJ springs. Im going to buy new u bolts and hardware new spring plates and rear shackles.

I guess I should nut up and post some photos to give folks a chance to actually see what I have going on.
Sit tight..

Ok.. Here you can see the front end the new springs and the beat up rear end.
