Thinking about ordering a 4" BDS kit. When ordering online, there are options offered to add to the base kit. One of these options is whether you want a shackle kit in either 1/2" or 1 3/8", or none at all. My question is about this option. Exactly what is/does the shackle look like and/lift? It looks like my stock springs, front and back, have shackles that have about a 3" or so spacing between the bolts. Do the shackles offered by BDS add to this or is the actual "lift" 1/2" and 1 3/8" respectively?

I plan to call and ask them in the morning. Just thought someone might know about this here...

Mucho Gracias.

I've been doing a lot of research on lifts lately and the shackles can add lift as well as the spring. The math goes something like this: If you add two inches to the shackle you get one inch of lift. Looks like they are offering you different lift sizes in the shackle.

I understand the principles involved.

It looks like I have ~ 3" now with stock. Is what they're offering added to that or something less than stock? Not sure why they would offer less than stock.....unless there is some reason I am not understanding.

I think that 3" in you have from bolt to bolt is just the standard size shackle, so that would be their 0 offering. That's stock.

This ^, ....if you had a 3" shackle lift the bolt to bolt would be around 7-8"s way to long of a shackle. I had the same choices when I ordered mine and chose no add-ons. You do get the spring end bushing but, not the frame end. Looking back now would have ordered the shackle bushings too. As I ended up ordering them later in my build.
4" lift is plenty for the cj without a shackle lift, 33"s have plenty of room to roam. 35"s would probably fit too but might rub in some cases.

Thanks guys for the replies - makes sense...
