1979 CJ-5 - Chevy SB 400, Muncie SM465, D20 T Case, 33" GoodYear Wranglers. AMC 20 Rear w/ 1 piece shaft upgrade, Ox Locker and 4.10 gearing. D30 Front w/ 30 spline shaft upgrade, Ox Locker and 4.10 gearing. Future - 4" lift, headers w/ custom exhaust.
Does anyone out there have a BDS suspension on their rig? Just curious how you like it, or what anyone else would recommend. I am looing at doing the spring conversion kit with the 4.5" lift. Possibly the 3.5" lift because some of what I have been reading seems like people are getting an inch or more than the advertised lift height. Any info I appreciate!

I just bought a pair of 4" rears and was quite suprised to see that there are only 4 leafs per spring. The dual military wraps are impressive but I don't think they would be good for the long haul without sagging. After looking around on the net I see that BDS offers an add-a-leaf for $65. This is for CJs with hard tops and big spare tires, or so they say. The front spring does have 5 leafs.

Torx, did you just replace the springs or did you put a lift on it?

I have had a "Lift" on it for over 20 years, actually I was just looking for a military wrap rear spring to stop axle wrap and ended up with the BDS springs. I have had ProCraps for most of that time, they are stiff, but very little sag if any after all these years. They were fairly inexpensive but the rear diff rotates quite a bit and hits the muffler.

I got 4 inches from ,y 4 inch BDS lift
top notch steel they sell by the way
very satisfied and have been on the jeep 4 years

I have the BDS 2.5 inch springs/shocks on my CJ5 . BDS didn't supply a shim with the 2.5 inch kit to rotate the pinion up toward the case, but it turned out that I needed about 6 degrees to get it straight. Other than that, I like the BDS stuff a lot. My brother runs the BDS 3 inch on his XJ. Their no-questions lifetime guarantee is for real. He could break an anvil with a rubber mallet, and they've replaced anything that he has broken with no questions at all.
