This happened to a club member as we were coming back from a day of wheeling. Dirt roads can be treacherous. He crested a small hill and as he came over the top, realized it turned slightly and was riddled with washboard. His speed wasn't too far out of line, but was enough to cause wheelhop as he hit the washboard. He lost control and slammed into a large rock which hooked him, turned him sideways forcing a roll. 2 passengers plus the driver, one was ejected through the gaping hole where the hardtop used to be. (wear your damn seatbelt!!)
So be careful out there...it's not the 4-wheeling that will get you.

Yea :dung: Happens real quick even when your going slow.

Hope everyone is ok.

What's not out of line ?
he must have been flying !
if he came to a turn he wasn't expecting which caused him to cut wheel to hard and hit wash board causing him to loose control than hit a rock and then rolled , to cause that kind of damage

yes seat belts should be worn on and off road
why weren't they?
Looking at the beer cans laying around the jeep looks to be some drinking involved:rolleyes:

Good question as to why his son wasn't wearing a seatbelt. I can pretty much guarantee "Dad" got his <-BAD WORD-> chewed out by Mom when they got home.

Beer cans? The only can I see is a Dr. Pepper can
There was absolutely no drinking...and never has been an any of our runs. Our club is very much against drinking and wheeling. That's grounds for instant dismissal from the group.

What I see is an almost perfectly graded dirt road that is vertually straight and a Jeep on it's side and all smashed up.
It would better be titled "Don't be STUPID", but that's a bit too late isn't it.

god bless. i hope he is ok. one of my frinds just passed away at 19 from not wearing a seatbelt.

i bet the first upgrades on his next jeep will be a 5 point harness and exocage haha

If it is a dr pepper can I do apologize but 9 out of 10 times when cans are laying around a wreck its beer

glad their all alright
but its still stupidity on drivers part!! IMO

Good rule of thumb :
Always wear seat belt
Always Know the trail your running and go in pairs
Always tread lightly
Always o bay off road trail rule for speed 20 - 25 mph
tops

If more people would follow the 4 main rules we wouldn't be loosing so many trails in the country , the US forestry service closes a average of around 200 trails nation wide each year due to abuse

Really something to think about

I agree. A little care on the roads is essential. That was the meaning behind this post.

A lot of guys will spend all day offroad....and they get their confidence up behind the wheel. As they head out, stupid things happen..after all, they spent all day controlling their rigs under hairy situations, whats a little dirt road?

luckily no one was seriously hurt, but it could have much worse. Why on earth one of them wasn't wearing a seatbelt is the most disturbing thing to me. Thing's happen really quick in a lifted jeep, on and off road.

my wife, sister-in-law and I were cruising some dirt road trails outside of Las Vegas one year in my old CJ7 . Got going pretty good on the road into the trail, but found a big wash (dip) in the road. My wife was in the back without her belt on when the Jeep flew up and probably caught some air. Her head met with the roll bar pretty hard and nearly dented it! I had to lecture her about wearing her seat belt so she wouldn't damage my Jeep any more!

Lol....are you still married? :eek::D

Going on 15 years together, and over 13 married. She loves the Jeeps as much as I do. She just doesn't work on them...

Dude that's harsh but funny as hell. I'm quite sure she didn't see the humor in your comments.

:chug: nice.

my gilfriend has been dealing with me for 3yrs. if she is still dealing with me when i get out of college i might get her a jeep instead of a ring  maybe she will understand. then we can teach her how not to flip a jeep like this guy did.

Good lord....dont do that
I bought my (ex)wife a Jeep one year for Christmas, and although she loved wheeling it...It turns out I ended up with two jeeps to have to fix all the time. :bang:

Wait, you're complaining about getting out with both Jeeps?

I've had a girlfriend insist it was her or the Jeep. I don't miss her one bit and still have the Jeep. Win-Win for me. :chug:

No, we ended up selling the Jeep before the marriage ended. Owning two offroad dedicated vehicles was tough on my sanity. I spent more time on a creeper or inside an engine bay then I did with my family. :D
