The front end of the truck has been really rolling of late - I posted about it and I looked and looked -

Yesterday - after scraping mud and grime away - I grabbed the bar connecting the two shock mounts over the engine and really rolled that ole Jeep - low and behold - right where the shock mounts - mount to the frame - cracks - well not just cracks broke off! one in front on the passenger side and the back on the driver side -

Now to figure out a better system to mount the shocks -

I am thinking cut them and (find someone who welds excellent) and put big flat plates with three bolts to the frame -

Tell me what ya think ?

and if ya know of anyone that is good a better welder than me!

:)Corn,

I can surley see why that would brake at the bolt holes.......not enough contact area.........I think your on the right track by using what you have above the bolted on section.

Hard to tell from here but I would think cutting off the twin tubes above where there bolted on and form a bracket that would grab both tubes and would also accept and bolt to a second bracket that would be welded directly to the frame............. Or if you don't mind it being a permanent mount.... form the bracket , weld it to the frame and the existing shock towers and your good to go. A bracket formed our welded out of 3/16" steel would be fine.
The frame should also be boxed in that area on the inside if it is not already done.

Not hard...........stop by next time your in California (LOL)
:D:D:D:D

Or Texas:D

I think you are on the right track. I am surprised there was that little support for the shocks.
