Hello everyone, it's me again :D

I received my new bellcrank bushing kit which came with boots and clips. Is there a how-to on replacing these?

While I've messed with the bellcrank before, I am 100% positive I did more harm than good, and ended up having it fixed or replaced by a "professional". And I'm using professional lightly as I know with certainty that there aren't any boots on it now. And, just to add, that was about 24 years ago.

I just really don't want to screw it up. :)

to me haynes is basically a maintenance manual!

The FSM is nice, I downloaded it from that link and printed the whole thing out a few years ago, don't sweat it the bell crank is pretty easy to do

Essentially if yo can walk without stubbing your toe on a flat basketball court you can work with your bell crank. Have confidence in your ability.

Thanks again, LG. I'll be grabbing it as soon as I can. I've found I'm well beyond the depth of the Haynes manual.

I'm definitely seeing the same thing!

It seems pretty easy. Just based on what I've seen (I plan on replacing the bushing tonight), what I did years ago was logical at the time, but completely wrong :)

Don't forget to add lots of grease.

I think I can manage that, although I didn't even think to do that before you just mentioned it. I'll be going through and lubing all the different grease points in short order, and the bellcrank won't get left out.

Don't underestimate my ability to stub my toe on a flat basketball :D

Just found that link. I just bought an original 1972 Jeep CJ Technical Service Manual on Ebay two weeks ago, a lil greasy but all the pages are there. 30 bucks, almost 400 pages.

Definitely...I happen to have found the manual you linked me to that someone had scanned. I'll actually zip it up and upload it tomorrow if I can find the time. Would you mind verifying it for me?

Those exploded views are going to help me for sure!

That link should be a 'sticky' here!:punk:

I'll probably still end up looking for a paper FSM, but having the PDF will keep me from dropping $109 on one :)

I did end up replacing the bushings, boots, and clips tonight. It was worse than I had thought. Would you believe there was no boot or clip on the Transmission side, and the opposite side didn't have the bushing, clip, or boot? There was, what I believe to be, steel wool stuffed in it to take up the slack. How it didn't fall apart, I'll never know. It's repaired now. I know I'm double posting the pictures, but I just can't believe how it was. I know I didn't do that part of it, and I guess since it worked I never paid any attention to it.
