Engine belts

Solution
The power steering belt adjustment is a PITA as there are two or three bolts on the back of the bracket and one on the front you need to loosen. 9/16 I believe, and insert a breaker bar to the back side of the bracket. Push the bracket down to install the new belt then push up until you have about a quarter inch of play in the belt and tighten everything back up.

If it's the alternator belt, take off the half inch bolt on top of the alternator and loosen the bottom bolt, 9/16 I believe. Install the new belt and use a long screw driver and pry from the engine to the alternator until you have about a quarter inch of play in the belt and tighten.

This is all from memory as I now have a single serpentine belt setup on my SBC engine swap.
Should just need to loosen the one in the back 9 1/16th or 5/8th if I remember correctly and the 9 1/16th on the front then use a 1/2" ratchet in the square hole in the back. However if you're going through all that trouble the belt is probably worn out and for the cost I'd just go ahead and replace it.

Thanks, I have the sbc as well so this sounds right
I also have a SBC in mine. Depending what type of brackets you have.mines have 1 on the water pump, 1 on the block, 1 behind the pump, 1 on the exhaust bracket. 4 total, all 9/16". I pulled on it while my wife tightened the bolt to the exhaust. That 1 bolt was enough to hold the pump in place. So I could tighten the rest of the bolts. I also need a stubby 9/16" wrench to get the bolt behind the pump. I also have headers on so it has a different bracket.
