I want to convert to front and rear disc brakes. whats the best kit performance wise for an 84 CJ7 ? I have a new master cylinder and brake booster installed. What all would be required aside from the actual kit itself?
Thanks

Here is a site that has front disc conversion kits.

HTML:
Brakes

Stainless Steel Brake Corp. ( SSBC) has both front and rear conversion kits.
There is numerous write ups on this site to install disc brakes from salvage parts, too.

:) Here is an option for the front...........Disc were available from the factory. If you want to save a little money, Good chance the factory calipers and mounts can be sourced at a local Jeep wrecking yard. Get new rotors turn the old calipers in for the core charge on the new exchange ones...........Check to make sure that the current hub you have will accept the new rotors.

On the rears shop on line to find the best deal.

You say you just replaced the Master Cylinder...............there is a difference between Manual Brake and Disc brake Master Cylinders. .........Normally the manual replacement Master cylinder is 15/16" bore while the Disc brake master is 1" bore.................

What years were the front dics brakes available? Will Wrangler parts fit? I'm kinda new to the Jeep world. Thanks.

Bob,

:)77-78 Jeep Dana 30 front axle with the factory front Disc "Big Brakes" ( large single piston caliper & 1.125") vented rotors..........but any of the front disc brake systems that were available on the Jeeps probably up to 84-85 will work on the earlier Dana 30 front axles..........when you find a donor its best to get the caliper mounts, calipers & hubs, on the rotors its just cheaper to buy new unless the used set is near new.......maybe some of the Wrangler stuff will also work............the good news is the dimensions on the Dana 30 stuff has not changed much, but some wheel patterns and offsets on wheels may not clear some calipers................. try to find donor parts that are near the age range of your vehicle.....no rocket science here just matching up parts............
