For those who love the low cal high protein pork rind treat (yes, they are actually a great snack food), check out J&J's - their microwave pork rinds are the BOMB!

Using my microwave it takes 2"15' to pop the rinds and when they are done they are cracklin' and ready to eat. :chug: the spicy ones rock!

I have never even heard of microwave pork rinds. Is it a regional thing??

Kinda a southern thing...

Pork rinds are made by frying the skin of a pig. Once you fry it at a high temp it renders out the fat and you get a very puffy product (like a cheese puff).

They actually have less calories and fat then light potato chips but a heck of a lot more protein...

Pork Rind
...........
1 oz. serving
4g Total Fat
1.5g Saturated fat
>1g carbohydrate
0 sugar
23g Protein

Potato Chips
............
1 oz. serving
10g fat
3g Saturated fat
0g sugar
2g protein

And they crunch like crazy!!!!!

You misundertook me.

We do have pork rinds in Texas, I am sure there are some Texans that would even claim to having invented or perhaps perfected them. I won't get into that part.:D

I have never heard of microwave pork rinds.

Ah... Heck, I never heard of microwave pork rind either until last week... I was just searching on the net and found them.... Decided to try them out and WHAM! The rock! Hot and cracking!

Great price too, I bet the two tubs I bought would make 50 or so bags of rinds that I would buy from the grocery store.

OK, so are you gonna post the site or what??

I should know better than to try to think and drink coffee at the same time.

umm... Sleepy head, look at post #1 :chug:

Greatest snack evar for atkins folks or diabetics as they do not raise blood sugar as long as you don't pick a sugary flavored one. Some companies BBQ versions used sugar in the flavoring.

We have plenty of them around here, so it isn't purely southern.
