Hey guys, so its finally time for a new set of tires for my CJ7 , just wanted to see what everyone has to say about different tires and the good and bad aspects, for reference i will be putting on 35/12.5's on a 15 inch rim, we'e ran bfg all terrains on it simce the late 80's but are wonderimg if theres better out there, its my daily and my wheeler as well, mainly rock crawling but sometimes it goes through a little mud, nothing serious though, so in your guyses opinions whats best nowadays for the way i run it? Thanks all

Not sure they are made in 35's.
Been very happy for the last 20-25 yrs with BFG A/T's

They do, weve always run 33's but with the new 4x4 club were with its harder to keep up so were stepping it up to 35

I had 35s for the same reason, but no longer so I went back to 33s. I have seen u-joints pull apart on the model 30 front axle along with rear axle twisting and u-bolt pads breaking with a 35 inch tire.

I've been using BFGs since the originals wore out. Going back with them again very soon, just waiting to get my wheels painted first.

I like the Firestone Destination M/T. but the A/Ts are good too I ran them on the wifes Cherokee.

Think hard about 35's on OEM axles.
A 4:1 t'case mod would help much here.

I have the goodyear MTRs in a 35x12.5 and like them very well on and off road.

BFG ATs since 1986. Have always run them as a DD tire. Love them. Just put on some 33x10.5 of the newer KO2 versions. Love them as well.

Lets define "Daily" driving. For me daily driving consists of a lot of interstate and City street driving. For some it consists of dirt road and medium to small town driving. For the farmer daily driving consists of dirt road, 2 tracks and mud. Most folks don't do a lot of rock crawling on a daily basis, but if you are a forest ranger, a Game and Fish officer or logger you might.

No matter what the vast majority will be recommending a BFG of some kind.
There are other options, but 35's will reduce your options a little.

I love the KO2s for the street, snow, sand, rocks, everything except thick mud. My problem is I live in Indiana. The midwest has thick clay mud in warm rainy weather, but we also have the snow in the winter...

Sounds like you are looking for an all terrain tire that is just as good in the mud that you have to drive in. After going thru a few different types of mud terrain types of tire, I would suggest keeping with BFG and just switching over to the mud version KM2s. So they are a bit louder on the dry pavement, but even better than the all terrains in the hills with loose gravel. I would think a factor would be just how much mud driving you need it for.

FWIW: The M/T's do not have the rain grip or tread life of the A/T has.
YES, they are much louder.
