Hi all,

I just finished my engine stand rotisserie and was wondering if I need to brace the body to keep it from warping... I know it don't weight much but I want to be safe and not sorry... any insight would be appreciated... thanks much...I was going to add some pics but for some reason I can't upload pics

I would think you would be ridged enough unless you started removing panels. or were missing a panel. Not sure what you would brace.

I didn't brace mine... there wasn't much flex and unless youre removing huge sheets of metal, as IOPort51 said, you should be fine

Jeep tubs are pretty stout............unless rust has gotten to it and your sticking it on the spit to fix the floors and other issues.........in which case yes bracing is very important to keep the integrity of the original measurements and body intact. Sometimes you can clamp things into place.

I put a brace between the door openings on my project during its transformation from a CJ5 to a CJ6 ............not because of rust but because so much material had been moved around. Once welded up the bracing was not necessary.

Thanks again fellas...tarry99 your rotisserie looks almost identical to mine...just came in from shop and looks like gonna need to do some floor repairs and all captured nuts for body mounting all the way around...any recommendations on these repairs...was checking out classic enterprises body panels and looks like descent stuff reasonable pricing too...

You mentioned engine stands and those are normally to low at the center height and not wide enough at the foot print when you go to flip something over that is full size. With the adjustable shaft between the two it's better to over build them now as who knows what project may find there way on there at a later date................

Classics stuff is first class although the only parts I used was braces that I added after extending my CJ5 by 20 inches........think ahead as to what your ultimate use will be for your Jeep.........now is the time to reinforce area's or add extra points to strap things down inside..........

Not exactly sure what to do...small rust holes in floors right above main floor bracing on both sides...I really don't want to completely replace floors but don't wanna half-*** it either...I'm good with mechanical stuff but not too good with body work...I'm also wondering if this is an aftermarket body tub...really poorly assembled...I kept the firewall off my old body to use as a template for all the mounting spots and placement of various holes...comparing that firewall to my newer body the newer body really :dung:ty...really solid though...none of the holes in newer body firewall look factory, all hacked up, looks like someone cut holes with hacksaw or flame wrench...

Yeah my engine stand rotisserie is three Harbor Freight engine stands cut up to make two...I extended the lower rear wheel mounts to match the width of body tub...raised the vertical rectangular tube 10" and took out the 10* angle so body would rotate properly...I had a piece of 2x2 square tube leftover from previous project to connect the two stands together...I also replaced existing stationery wheels with swiveling ones...used some channel strut to mount body to engine stands...works awesome
