OK, I'm kind of new at this. Since I would like to keep all four wheels on the ground as much as possible, I'm leaning toward putting quick disconnects on the front sway bar for off road. How much should the brake lines be lengthened?

I would say jack up on the frame and see how much you can move.

[smartassmode on] What is a disconnect? Like a sway bar or something?[smartassmode off]

I think you should add an inch or so... Why take chances? :)

How much lift do you have? I looked at your profile but could not find anything

to properly do this, I suggest going to someone who ones a fork lift or works where you can get one. have them go to the side of the jeep and pick up the front wheel till the other side is a foot off the ground, now is that brakeline tight? if so you need to add a few inches, if it is not, then pull down a bit and see if you lose travel before the line gets tight, oh have someone making sure the jeep is steady please. Once you find the end of your travel then you want about an inch more of line than tight.
OK let the flames begin but this is how I do it. it akso is a way to check for proper bumpstop tuning as you want a bump stop to be 1 inch longer than tire hitting and it checks for tire clearence, plus checks your articulation for anything hitting. I call it a fork lift tuned suspension.

That is the proper method... :) You have to flex the suspension. If I can't do the I guestimate and err on the long side.

OK, as I suspected, there are too many variables to just say "add x inches". And I don't know all I should about this Jeep. The front springs are not stock, per the guy at 4WD, but don't know what they came from, so that would be an unknown in amount of flex. How much lift? Still trying to figure that out. The connecting arm between the sway bar and axle is 8" hole-to-hole, and from what I've been able to find, stock is 6" hole-to-hole. The 8" is supposed to be for a 2" lift.
Don't have access to a fork lift, so guess we'll try with the jack first. Also have a lot of stumps left over from Ike, so might try different heights and see what happens. Hmm, would that make it a stump-broke suspension tune?

drive up behind some of the big box stores and see if any one of them have a loading ramp without a gaurd rail on it (make shift RTI) :chug: I think that would be safer than the stump.

I can just see the bag boys at Albertsons running to the dock to watch this.
They would be checking the articulation on there Honda's and Nissons by the weekend.

A set of brick stairs perhaps? :)
