Little help needed...

Have any of you had problems with the proportioning valve getting off center? Meaning, I have brake issues having the brake pedal hard to even block front tires in panic braking. I already checked brake booster and works fine, no vacuum leaks, MC is new, also the proportioning valve is new and I am guessing the guy who bleeded the system did it wrong getting the metering valve off center blocking and blocking it.

Any guess?

What? Sorry, confused. Sounds to me like you might need to learn how to bleed your brake system or take it back and have him do it again.

Not sure what the issues is, but if someone else did the work, they should be responsible for making sure it's done to your satisfaction.

It doesn't sound like an easy problem to trouble shoot on your own, and you shouldn't have to..

Was the work done by a previous owner?

..

OEM, stock brakes and oversize tires will give you stopping issues.

Morris - With this being a CJ board most of us take on a job like this at home, it's part of the fun of owning a CJ as opposed to .... oh say a non jeep (notice the small "J") product like your average Wrangler. I do agree though, if a "pro" did the work he should back it by making it right.

You don't say what year you have? It could be rear or front (if earlier) drum brakes out of adjustment.

We agree, we stand behind the folks who do it themselves.

I was just thinking if he spent hard earned money to pay someone to do the job, he should get his money's worth. No offense intended.

This is a great board, and I learn things everyday from here. :-)

Morris - Not to worry, no offense taken. We have had a little fun with the CJ vs. Wrangler crowd. Basically the Wrangler crowd orders stuff from catalogs and talks about the latest carpeting, the CJ crowd runs bare floors (carpet holds water and ruins floors) and when we need something we make it or do it ourselves, no bubba repairs are acceptable either.

We agree 100% on repair guys backing what they do. I'm fairly meticulous and will hold a repair guys feet to the fire and talk up those that do a good job. I've even been burned a time or two. Being burned is NEVER a good thing.
