first off ill apologize for prob my ty post compared to others on here
first ill start from the beginning i bought a 71 CJ5 (go for digger) my plans for it are be my summer cruiser and mud toy gonna fix all rust i found a fiberglass body already and it will be getting a amc 360 in the future has a 134f with a 3sp right now. other plans for this jeep is different axles the biggest tires ill be running is 37s but prob star off at 35s so what axles do you guys recommend keep in mind doing this on a budget and im no master mechanic so whats a easy affordable swap that can handle say 450hp 360 amc motor and 37s. i will be doing a spring over axle lift with wider springs for stability and i do not want to stretch the whole frame and body just dont want to do that much fab work right now im doing frame work and its pretty solid but someone bolted and welded in frame reinforcements and there only welded on the bottom over time dort and idk what else got in between the frame and the reinforcement piece so now theres a ton of loose crumbly rust in there i cant get out any ideas to solve this?? or just grind bottom welds and take off??? also whats the best way to clean my frame i plan on undercoating the whole frame and running gear. ill post pics on this later.....as mentioned above i found a fiberglass body deal of a lifetime 100 bucks for the tub and 200 for hood and fenders connected as one piece nothing wrong with that however the tub is a different story the rear drivers side corner was hit and has a nice size missing and the owner said he jumped a hill a at silver lake sand dunes and cracked the floor im not worried about that i can reinforce and fix the floor but the rear corner worries me is it something fixable or should i fix my metal tub needs tail gate all supports floor pans fenders and bed
so all i want to know is just some suggestions and your guys personal experience
1 what axles to run
2 fix fiberglass tub or fix metal tub
3 how to clean frame rust
4 what to do about frame reinforcements
5 any other suggestions on engine 390 maybe??
