What a good time
I must admit, Sasquash makes one great trail partner
I am organizing and sizing pictures right now, but have a ton to put up

we met on Friday, set up camp and went to the ghost town exploring, that was fun then it was back to camp for dinner and camp talk

next morning after getting up with Perculated coffee and Breakfast tacos we set out to an area to rock hound, we found a lot of interesting stuff. Calico is a rock hounders dream. A ton of different minerals n the area.

then we set off to explore the back area, did a few nice trails and found what we called the human gophers mine, it went for days and you followed it by it kept popping up out of the ground and going back down ever 25 yards or so, I have a lot of pics, and no we did not go in.
Saw a lot of mines, it was fun

Next we went over to Doran's entrance, it is the beginning to a famous trail and it is extreme rock crawling, watched to really nice Cjs try it and one busted, had to be recovered out, the other guy tried for about 30 minutes but kept just not getting up a major rock by bout 6 inches. he finally backed out. I would like to give him credit, he had a very nicely built rig and he knew what he was doing, he never used the skinny to much, was always listening to his spotter and when he finally backed out, he had no mechanical damage because of stupid moves.

Off we flew to Dagget to the mining museum, but it was closed, stopped buy an old silver stamp mill site. then I took Allen past a ghost town that is basically just a few foundations and brick piles. It is the Town of Marion, was once a mill town next to the dry lake and most guys fly right through it not even stopping as they do not know it is there.

Back to camp where Allen brought out some great books about old mining towns and ghost towns and we talked till late about places we had explored or wanted to go to.

I had a blast and will tell you I made a good friend, we will be exploring together again

pictures to follow:):)

. Can't wait to see pics.

Wish I would have stayed off the skinny this weekend:D.

Here's a little eye candy!
The green 7 is a thing of beauty:drool:
The black Scrambler was sweet too

I will post tomorrow
my problem is the camera I was shooting with is a semi professional and if I posted they are bigger than a computer screen, so I have to download them, resize them and then upload them to the forum

guys, Sasquatch has a 78 CJ5 to die for, he did a ground up resto and it loks like a professional job, My 67 id professionally restored in the drivetrain, but the body is just my own form of "Get er Done". oth of these jeeps laughed all weekwnd long at the terrain we put them through, they are great trail jeeps but side by side, Allen has a jeep that makes me jealous\

anyway.give me a bit of time and we will have more pics. I think we will all agree next spring we can all agree this would be a great place for a regional Jeep=CJ meet up.

Nice eye candy so far

Looks like a lot of fun.
I wish I was there.
Thanks for the trail report.

Looks like a lot to do there. Glad you all had a good time, to bad it's
on the other side of the country from me.:( Maybe someday.:)

Here's a couple of them getting the busted up Scrambler back down, broken CV on the rear drive shaft and maybe an axle or hub in the front as he only had drive on the right front. I was more than a bit confused these guys built these rigs so nicely and then sacrafice them to the rocks, it was fun to watch though .

that was one great CJ7

and I would never have tried to get up that trail if I owned it

I went up that trail one time 5 or 6 years ago in my TJ and that was rough

I respect my junk to much to try it now days

But i will say it was great watching the show

and that CJ7 almost made it, about another 6 inches and he would have had it but he was just not getting up that far.

His buddy I talked to said he normally makes the trail without much trouble but apparently it's deteriorated badly from recent storms. As you said it used to be a paved road many many years ago.

Great pics you guys, looked like a ton of fun and a lot to take in and explore. Not to mention that is one tough looking trial.

Who's the spotter?
It's actually the guy not giving direction in this shot.
