Looking at turning the CJ into a hunting rig. Has anyone done a full wrap with material like this? www.camo4u.com - if so, how hard is it to do yourself?

Hi masker, welcome to the site :chug:

You should stop in and introduce yourself in the Introductions. I watched one of the shows on SPIKE, TRUCKS! or EXTREME 4x4, I don't remember which, they did it. It didn't look too hard.

IMO wouldn't spend that kind of money for it, but that's just me. For me, a well done, not half-arsed while killing a 30 pack, but a well done rattle can camo job looks good. But again, that's my opinion.

So I did a little digging on camo Jeeps. I found this pic, dude did his own digital camo job. Here's the link

I also found a guy that used a stencil kit from Cabela's, he said needed two more cans of paint than what the kit provided, but he said Wal-Mart special ultra flat black was good.

And then I found this place, OverWraps LLC, very similar to what you found.

I guess it just depends on what you want to do with your CJ. One way or the other though, let us know, I want to see what it looks like :chug:

Way to take the fun outta it , but ya I agree.

No, the 30 pak covers the fun.:p x2 on the stencil camo and I like the digital camo also.

I'm just sayn', but I think the blackout light on the digital one is too far back to work properly.

I prefer the one in the second picture myself. I think that one is cool. I suppose being a female and just loving Jeeps and camo what can I say:p

A woods Jeep should be spray bombed. The wrap will get torn up and then the only fix is to buy and install more wrap. Lots of work IMO.

^^Thats such good camo, I don't even see a Jeep. :D ^^

it looks great but i wouldnt use it for hunting animals are colorblind the other hunters are not lol ive been shot at and i was wearing a bright orange jacket and cap plus animals can hear and smell you coming for miles here in NB Canada i have more luck on the highway with a good bumper lol it saves buying a hunting licence and is a bit safer lol:chug:

I have seen a camo jeep, that they sprayed the outside using liner.
You get a scratch proof coating and it's camo.

I can't think of any reason I do not want to be seen and several good reasons to be found.

i put vinyl on once before and it was just two stripes. it wasnt very hard but it was time consuming. its been on the car a lil over a year and hasnt gotten a scratch yet. i had a an old ranger a lil bit back that had the stencil camo on it. it was pretty nice and if you ever did scratch it it was really easy to fix. i'd go with the stencil if its a hunting buggy but if you drive it around town too i'd go for the vinyl wrap it looks better imo

I haven't wrapped a Jeep before, but have had one done for our off-road. car. I watched the guys do it and it was pretty difficult for them to get all of pieces to line up correctly. It won't look as clean unless each camo box meets the next panel and so forth. The guys would heat up the vinyl and stretch it over the corners and move around until it was in the right place.

I would suggest that you hire someone to do. We had the guy design, print and install for about $500. Just me two cents... We thought it would last one season in the dirt and sand, but the vinyl is pretty durable. We've had it on for three seasons now and it still look pretty good. Except for the big dent when I threw a rock up into the side panel...

If it's just a hunting rig then get some spray cans. Digital looks pretty cool. Go darker though. The lighter color looks like Army. The darker is mean and green.
