It has been a long time coming.
Legal wheeling on state property in Jericho State Park in Berlin NH.
Friday 4 CJ's traveled to Berlin to camp and wheel over the weekend.
Saturday morning we met up with 15 other rigs for a ribbon cutting ceremony, then hit the trail.

Thanks for the post and all the pictures.Thinking of a trip to Maine and New Hampshire next year. Hope I can rent a jeep when I get there. Would love to take mine but have no desire to drive for 3 or 4 days to get it there.:D

Wooly, the 5 is my friend Jerry's rig. The white 7 is mine. I picked it up last Oct as a transition Jeep until I finish my 79 CJ5 .5

IO, If your looking to run class 6 roads most of the big rental companies will have what your looking for. If your looking for something a little more built try relayrides.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing Posi! That's beautiful country up there - glad to see you all can get out there and run.

While driving home from Jericho Mt I stopped at a rest area. I wasn't in there more then 10 mins, then walked back to my truck to find a swarm of bees around it. I noticed two things, they were honey bees and swarming, so typically their not aggressive. It seems the worker bees felt my truck would make a nice home for their queen (queens travel in the swarms).

I now had to find a way into my truck, while not letting a dozen in doing so. The passenger side had the least amount of bees so I decided that would be the best entry. A couple of short windmill swings with my left hand while grabbing the door handle with my right, one continues motion I was in the truck......very stealth like. I'm sure if someone was watching they would be laughing.

As I drove away they followed my truck, trailer, and Jeep down the ramp onto the highway. I can now say bees can fly between 35-40 MPH while drafting, without a draft their top speed is 15 mph at best. Once on the highway I dusted the ones flying, but I had passengers, stuck on the windshield and mirrors. Anyways, I drove 12 miles at speeds between 60-70 before the last couple lost their grip.

Just can't make this stuff up.

I know it's crazy, but I feel kinda sorry for them. The queen must have been along for the ride somewhere you couldn't see her.

Nice write up, I'd like to know a little more about the red truck with the chrome grill. Looks like a Willys Wagon/truck/Jeepster. Did you roll those rocks out of the way or would that ruin the trail?

We were on a black trail (trail rating system) going down a steep and rocky hill. The rock you see got dug up by the axle tube and lifted the tires off the ground. He was basically surfing down the hill on the rock because of the steep grade. A few of us rocked the Jeep sideways until we dislodged the rock and left it be. We never move rocks off the trail.

This trail had a lot of rocks and stumps, we were dragging diffs over them all day long. Again this is a new trail and it will chance with use. There were a lot of blue trails and some black, we found a black trail that no one ran that day so it was nice to be able to be the first ones on it.

Our CJ's held up well, only one in our group broke a spring frame mount but it wasn't a problem because it had front and rear winches, we just ran wire from both winches to the axle so it didn't move forward or rearward. He make it out without issue.

The truck is a well built chevy, real sweet, with ventilating front windshield. If you recall the Alaska Offroad Warriors Race last winter well, their having another similar race, the Chevy truck will be in it. I'm allowed to say what state it will be held in but I hope he does well.

Nice! I like the way the fenders and the pipe frame are all molded into one unit. Nice paint too. It seems like a shame to beat it up like they do on the Offroad Warriors Show. I was one of those that enjoyed the show for what it was. Please tell your buddy that unlike last years winners, raw power doesn't necessarily win the day. Look at what the replacement truck Range rover uys did with a little smart driving. It seemed like late in the game the winners would look at an obstacle, scratch their heads and put the pedal to the metal, then get stuck while others drove around them.

Great thread! Wish we had some trails like that around here. Why do all the great trails have to be sooooooo far from us?

Wow great pics, looks like a good time. Also great news. It's not often you hear of trails "opening" on the East Coast

Made it over to Jericho today with a few folks from several other clubs. Nice area, fun trail. Lots of rocks!

Good wheeling with you Caveman!

I had a grand time Wooly. That rig of yours never fails to amaze me. If anybody likes rough and rocky trails with a few steep climbs, This is the place to go, And they need all the patronage and input from people that they can get to help keep this open. I would recommend that anyone within driving distance to go and have a good time.
The lady friend that was with me took some pictures also and I'll post them up as soon as she sends them to me.
