Cant shift into 1st-column shift

G'day - post number 2 for me..

I've noticed I'm running out of travel with the steering column lever to get into 1st on my new CJ7 quadra trac heep....

Can do it by moving the linkage in the engine bay, but no go on the steering column -the whole setup on the column is pretty sloppy and has a fair bit of freeplay .. anybody got the same dramas...?

I had that once on a '64 Ford truck. The column pins and/or bushings are worn out and need replaced. Shouldn't be too hard to take the column apart and replace them.

There should also be bushings on the rod at the Transmission that can wear out.
Have someone move the shifter while you check all the joints in the linkage.

Thanks, I will have a look for sure. Just thought I'd check if it was a common problem.. (had manuals in the past..)
