So im looking to get a new carburetor for my 86 CJ7 with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and i was wondering if i have to get a carb with the stepper motor and if i didn't is it just plug and play or do i have to do something else do get it to work

The carter BBD has a stepper motor, but there are others out there that you can just "plug and play." I recommend the MC2150.

If you install a carb without the stepper motor you should do the Nutter By Pass to get it to run right.
