I am looking for a cheap suspension lift I really dont plan on doing any off roading so dont need a full blown suspension lift anyone got any brands, links I could go to? :chug:

best answer ive heard all day..
Might be the only one you get with that type of attitude.

The reason I asked you to fill out your profile is two fold.

1 - It is required.
2 - Depending on your year Jeep, suspension parts could be more expensive or more difficult to find.

Well now that you started out on the wrong foot with me, what is a price you are willing to pay? What is you mechanical ability? Can you weld?

There are many ways to lift the Jeep. Some are more expensive, some are harder.

I was thinking of this kit here.
Rough Country Suspension Suspension Lift Kit - JCWhitney

OK - So $380 is within your budget? Don't forget you will need to purchase shocks also as this only includes a power steering pitman arm, bolts and tcase drop. If it is actually 4" of lift new brake lines are usually required.

Tire size you want or have, total lift you desire, and budget would all help to give better answers to your question...

Since you are not going off road much, a 4" lift would be a lot of trouble to do all suspension... (even though I cringe at the thought of shackle / body lifts...)

The kit say's it includes everything except shocks as CJ already pointed out, but also as he said, the brake line extended, and numerous other little things usually come up while trying to do an "easy" kit install...

For instance, If you do want say 35" tires, do you already know the axles you have would handle that v-8's power? We can't tell you either way, because we don't know what axles / diffs you've got...

With a little more info the people on here can let you know exactly what they've learned those little things are... and prepare you for them...

I seem to remember on of the lift kits I was looking at did come with shocks (one of the only brands i found...) but it was more expensive... Maybe it was procomp's (can't remember for sure...)

If all you want is some shopping links, here's a useful couple links for you...

Non Jeep Vehicles and ALL Parts and Accessories - Any and ALL Aftermarket Parts and Additions at Jeep-CJ.com

Where to Find Parts

(CJ do we have a thread with all contact info for places we've purchased from and recommend / suggest to each other like early CJ.com used to? I am terrible at searching forums... :bang: )

Also, Summit, Quadratec, Morris 4x4, etc are good places to buy from.

And since you are a member of this forum:

Some discounts available to members... If you didn't already PO the owner of the forum... Just kidding, that was supposed to be a joke... :poke:

:chug: and :ww: to the site...

If I were you I'd do a site search for rough country, theres been a lot of mixed feelings about them. A lot of people seem to think they ride mighty rough.
Jeeps ride rough anyway and overly stiff springs don't help.

I would really really advise against getting the cheapest suspension lift you can find,
I hate to say you get what you pay for, cause there are some great lifts in the middle of the road price with great warranties but then there are some lifts that are just a rip or if you needed a lift exactly like it which most dont, it might be worth it but i still believe you could find a equal or better lift than some of thee that are just ridiculous,

the other thing is from the cheapest one to a decent one would not be that much more,
have u had a lifted jeep before, knowing which one you had I could point you to some economical lifts that aren't :dung: but not knowing what you go makes it impossible but PLEASE don't just go buy the cheapest one,
its the cheapest one for a reason most of the time, some times when a company is trying to build there name and get product out they cut prices to get people to buy but then go up to make a profit

Ive never heard anyone go about it this way and be happy with it, not get hurt or be pulling it off and going stock while they sell it on thief bay and save some more money to get a decent lift,

if you are interested in warranty BDS has one of the best ive ever heard of they stand behind their products and If I remember right it it breaks for any reason they replace it, no one else does that i know of, but there are tons of great lift companies but you gotta decide off road performance, handling/ride quality, on road manners, articulation off road performance, what type off off road are u going to ride,
even if ur a mall crawler I dont think u d like the cheapest lift cause its on road handling would prob be :dung:

id rather have a good used lift, just mu opinion, if thid was reversed I would hope someone would tell me this

You want cheep? Buy 22 hockey pucks and some bolts. Instant 2 inch body lift. Cheep and your stock quality ride remains.

that was funny but if you want cheap do a body lift

I think I agree with a few previous posts .... There's really no such thing as a cheap lift.
Maybe you buy less components, and pay less.
I think sometimes people are really happy with cheaper brand names, and sometimes you pay for the name, not the product.
But a cheap kit, is simply less components.
Start with some springs. Your shocks will top out so then buy some shocks. Then look at everything else, sway bar links, brake lines, Transfer Case drop and pitman arm. Or, ... spend the money on a complete suspension system that should be tested and tuned to each other.
Personally, I've always mixed and matched suspension systems to get what I wanted.
Eg - On the JK I bought an OME 2.5" lift. Great value, good name, ect. Essentially springs, shocks and bump stops. Then I HAD to buy adjustable track bars front and rear cause the lift moved the diffs. Now, when I'm ready I'll buy the extended sway bar links to achieve more travel, only more travel will almost snap brake lines. So extended brake lines will be needed AS WELL AS extended sway bar links.
I could have bought a $1600 full traction kit at the start as that's what I've already spent.
Using the JK may be a bad example as CJ's are a little different, but I think your asking the wrong question, maybe it should be,
"What's the best value for money lift" or "bang for your buck lift"? "What do I get with it and what's also needed"?
