- 1979 Jeep CJ5 with 304 V8, T18 Transmission, Dana 20 Transfer case with TeraLow 3:1 gears, 4.88 axle gears, Detroit Locker up front and Ox Locker in back with 1 piece axle shafts, 36" SuperSwamper SX Tires, Shackle reversal, MileMarker Hydraulic winch, MSD 6A ignition.
I took my CJ down to Choke Cherry Canyon just north of Farmington NM. It's 45 miles south of my home. This place is a little Moab.
There is a lot of slick rock here.
I went on the Lower Rim Trail.
This next section I wasn't sure if I was taking the correct route and in all honesty I wasn't sure if I should trust Koda's spotting so I got out to check the trail.
I decided that if I were to continue my left front tire would drop off the ledge first and I would roll. I backed up and tried again.
Here's someone else trying Lower Rim Trail. This guy was not wheeling with me. It's just a video I found on the internet.
Here's some more pics of my '79 CJ5
Today's ride was relatively mild. Some of these trails can be pretty scarey, especially in a short wheelbase CJ5 .
Here's another post I make of these trails:http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f63/farmington-nm-trails-11690/
Check it out.
