Hey all- this is the start of my build thread for my 81 CJ7 . I picked it up this weekend, and it's already been pretty heavily modded, but there's much more to go. It's got a AMC 304 , T-18 with the 6.32 granny low, a Dana 20 with a Tera-Lo kit, and 3:73 gears in locked Dana 44 's out of a Scout, so it's got a crawl ratio of about 74:1 while still doing very well on the highway.

The suspension is a SOA with 2 1/2" lift leafs and a hi-steer setup, so it rides well and had plenty of flex with the 34" Super Swampers that are currently on it. The steering shaft and column bearing are shot, so there's a bunch of play in the wheel, which is the first item on the repair/upgrade list (along with a steering box brace).

I've already ordered Genright 6" flare tube fenders and rear flares, corner guards, and rocker guards, which will be the first major upgrade. The camo paint scheme will be gone soon as well.

Here's a few pics of how she currently stands, including one next to my wife's TJ to get a sense of scale. I'll be posting more as the work progresses.

Welcome. Looks like you have a great start. All the expensive stuff is done. Now for the aesthetic and comfort stuff. :chug:
