Hi

Am I right in thinking that the hard doors were an optional extra on the CJ7 ? … and not standard on 1985 for example. I have read the spotters post and that seems to be what is being said.

It will help as I try to get the certificate of compliance required for a French registration number.

Cheers

I believe you are correct that there was an option to get full steel doors or full soft doors. No CJ ever came originally with a half door option. The half doors were first available from the factory on the second year YJ's in 1988. So whether steel or soft doors, either could have been stock.

From 1976 to early 1981, the doors used a rotary style handle with no latching mechanism on the tub, just a plate to protect the tub from the door latch hitting it. Starting in late 1981 through 1986, you would have the paddle style door handles with a striker post on the tub sticking out into the door opening. Some after-market style latches use other mechanism types.
