CJ 78 Windshield wiper motor arm

We have a 1978 Jeep CJ. The windshield wiper motor arm is not registered on the wiper motor shaft, how do I decide what position to put the arm.

If you are asking what I think you are asking, set the little piece that attaches to the shaft parallel to the ground with the long end sticking toward the driver side if you want you wipers to lean toward the passenger side when off. Put it the other way if you want the to look like they do in England or on a postal Jeep. Does that answer you? Does it make sense?
