Build Thread CJ-8 Scrambler Build
CCOR
Jeeper
Our customer brought us this beautiful low mileage Scrambler. It was a 1984 CJ8 with 30,000 original miles. He parked it in his driveway which is on an incline and set the parking brake. After he was out of the Jeep the emergency brake let loose and rolled down the drive way into a rather large oak tree! At least he didn’t get run over trying to stop it.
After disassembling the Jeep we pulled the frame and body to straighten it out. We had to graft in some CJ7 panels as we could not source any original Scrambler pieces at the time. After all the body and frame repairs were made it was decided to go through the entire drive train. The stock AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l was bored .030” over and completely gone through by the engine builder. We put in all new bearings, seals, and syncrho’s in the T-176 4 speed. We also freshened up the Dana 300 with new bearings and seals. The model 20 and Dana 30 front received new wheel bearings, axle seals, and pinion seals.
The next step was paint then reassembly. After seeing the beautiful paint job the customer decided to leave the decals off of the Jeep. All of the stock interior was reused as it was in excellent condition. If you have questions about the scrambler build or one that your working on then just shoot me a PM.
Thanks,
Bobby
