Im looking at a 47 CJ2a , its priced right.

I really want a CJ3b , Im tying to figure out if its feasible to drop the 3B body on the 2A frame. I know that with enough $ anything is possible, but that doesnt mean its cost effective.

I once possesed this knowledge, but Ive been out of Jeeps for about 20 years, went to muscle cars for a few years, motorcycles for about 15 years, now Im thinking about going back to Jeeps.

The 2A body is shot so it needs a rebody, hense the price is right. If I remember correctly the overall length is the same but the 3B body is wider. I dont remember if the frames have different widths or not.
 
The 3b body is not any wider than the 2a, the main difference is the taller hood, grill and cowl to accept the taller Huricane F head engine.

My wife had always wanted a Jeep. When we married she had a 04 Rubicon, I didnt like it the PO put a body lift on it and a few other mods so I talked her into selling it and buying a Solstice.

Shes into the idea of a classic CJ build and wants to drive it as well. As we have been discussing this I found that there are alot of things she doesnt know. She wasnt real pleased when I informed her there was no ps or pb, and the 5.38s would limit top speed.

So I got to thinking about all the trashed Bronco IIs that have about the same track as an early CJ, plus they have ps, pdb, street gears, and a 5speed.

A quick look on Craigslist and there are a few local for under $500.

Are Bronco II drivetrains a common swap into the early CJ's?

I know that some people will look at modifying these early Jeeps as a crime, but the one I have my eye on is a basket case and they made so many of them I dont think this one will be missed. Plus in Georgia they dont issue titles for vehicles over 25 years old, all I need is a bill of sale and a vin.
