Got the type of parking brake that goes on the rear wheels only. PO had them disconnected. I have what I think is the equalizer mounted, but the cables from the rear brake seem way too long. Does anyone know where I can find a diagram/pictures of where all this goes? Thanks in advance.

I see one in my Haynes CJ manual, it is the same as the factory service manual. It is about as close as you are going to get without seeing one in person. I would think it is pretty similar to yours, just a bit longer. You might try a junkyard, or flagging someone down, you do live in "Jeep Country".

I have the factory manual but can't find anything in there. What page is it on? The only thing about the parking brake in mine is a little paragraph about adjusting it.

Found it on another jeep forum. Not sure how the mods are about posting links to other forums, but if it's ok I'll post the pic.

The rear brake cables are VERY long. They loop around forward then back sort of over the rear axle then forward to the equalizer. It's an odd arrangement but Jeep designed it that way.

I've got a similar situation, my Emergency Brake was not only disconnected, it was removed from the brake drum all together. My question is, does the brake cable go on the inside or the outside of the frame.

That is not the oem, not for my '86 anyway, but quite an improvement. Thanks for sending that in.
