Thank you for all the replies. I know the early 6's wheelbase is 101, later ones are 104, and 8's are 103.5. My main reason for the question is I'm thinking of stretching my 5 into a 6. But I read that 6's windshield frames are 59" wide at the top, and my 5's is 55" wide at the top. Therefore I'm assuming a 6's tiger top won't fit. So I was really trying to figure out if I could use an 8's super top, but have the Jeep look like a later 6?..

Don't know where you're getting your info but the Willys / Jeep CJ6 's were only built from 1955-1975............Basically a stretched CJ5 with the addition of the added 20" center section behind the drivers seat..........No issue stretching your 5 into a 6 if you could find a decent donor center section from a wrecked CJ6 .......but if you had to cut up a decent 6 it's obviously not worth the long hours to do so........
Windshield frames over that era are basically the same.........and will fit all tops....the only difference was the later frames moved the wiper motors down
from above the glass in about 1969 to above the hood.......and added linkage inside the frame and a single motor mounted on the outside drivers side , at the same time the glass opening on the 69 and later frames became larger only at the top of the frame when they introduced the curved top glass.....which made seeing out of the original Jeep much better.
After 1975 the shape of the windshield frame at the very top did narrow as did many other measurements on the later CJ series.........although with modifications to the hinges you could but a later frame on the earlier Jeep which also required some defrost port mods and use a later CJ5 top as long as the doors matched the earlier shape.
If I could load some photo's I could show you one.
You can see the contour on the top of the tub in Rains pics. Does the CJ6 have that?
Not sure honestly. Like I said, I have a 79 CJ5 . And that would be getting stretched to the length of a 6. I've only owned it for about 2 months. Haven't had the top off yet (Michigan weather [emoji6]) so I honestly don't know how the top rail looks. All I know for sure is that it uses a tiger top with the snaps. I'd much rather use a 6's tiger top than an 8's super top, mainly due to the fact that I really like the appearance/design of the tiger tops. I just don't think a 6's tiger top will work due to my windshield frame narrowing at the top.

How about contacting the manufacturer of the tops and see what they say? Oh, get a tech guy not a salesman.
