cj7 lift/tire question

hey guys, new to the forum,picked up an 86 CJ7 ....had a question. the add said 4" lift, but when I emailed him not long ago he said he didnt know,but at least 2 1/2"..it has 33x12.5s on it. Heres my deal I need to replace the lift(worn springs/shocks,ect) Do I need a 4" to clear 33x12.5s?....it doesnt look like a 4" now unless it sagged? Thanks guys wanna order this week!!

IMO you need 4" of lift for 33's.
Some say 2 1/2 will work with some trimming of the wheelwells.

Agreed. i run 2.5" and had to trim to be able to go wheeling.

Some trimming required...
I would think 33's would work fine?
