Hello!!!!
I am brand new to the forum and my first question has to do with the front hubs on my 76 CJ7 .

The Jeep has a GM Turbo 400 Transmission with the Quardra-trac Transfer Case . I do have the "e-drive" switch in the glove box but the glove box is beat up so no telling is the warning sticker has been upgraded or what. From what I could discern from this site before becoming a member is that setup should NOT have locking front hubs. In my case I do; they say "Ramsey" across the turn lever.

This leads me to believe a "part time" conversion has been done but I cannot confirm. I thought I had run across a post somewhere indicating Ramsey was the precursor to Mile Marker. I called Mile Marker this morning and was told they had a new owner (since about three years ago) and the person did not know.

So my question is two fold; 1. What the heck to I have? 2. If I do have a "part time" conversion how do I use it?

Thank you!!!
Lee

I put this in suspension and steering because I was thinking hubs on the wheels.......If wrong forum please move accordingly. :)

Let me start off by saying i have absolutly 0 experiance with the QuadraTrac cases. However i did a quick google and there are a few good sites with some pretty good info. Fourwheeler network has an install article and the waggoner site has some more info. I didnt search this site but it would probably yeild some results. I have had my eye out for a QuadraTrac driveline for some time for an ls conversion with bigger axles for a full time winter flyer.

There's no reason I can think of to put locking hubs on a stock QT, so my guess is that you have a part-time kit. Assuming you do, then it works no differently than a conventional Transfer Case . It's a rear wheel drive only until you flip the vacuum switch AND lock the hubs, then it's full-time FWD.

Part time kits were for people who didn't care to learn how to use a QT, plain and simple. That will anger some people, but it's the truth. Don't get me wrong - they're not junk - they're just not necessary.

If you have one, then there's no more reason to remove it than there was to install it.
