First of all.
Narrow track Dana 30 axle from an 80-86 CJ has locking hubs, disc brakes. Brakes are new, rotors are new, calipers new, rubber lines are new and master is new. Stops great.

The passenger side brake makes a clicking/clacking sound on each rotation of the tire. There is about an 1/16 inch of space between sides of pad and caliper that allow pad to move. The drivers side is the same but doesn't clank. Aybody run across this. Is the pad too small? Caliper too big? New rotor not flat? Hard too be cool when it sounds like a train!

My passenger side clicked for a while. Never figured it out. I found no slack in the brake pads on mine and to be truthful I thought it was the bearing/hub/spindle. I took it apart and put it together three times and never found the noise.

Not a lot of help, I know, but it just went away. Maybe just need a few miles on it.

Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Do you have the clips that hold the pads tight? When I first bought my Jeep I serviced the brakes and the pads clicked and rattled. It took some research, and found the previous owner left those clips out. I think I ordered them from Four Wheel Drive Hardware. My local Napa could not get them. Took care of the noise. If you have a narrow track the brakes are a little different from the wide track.

Petty sure its put together right according to Chilton's. I've pulled it all apart too many times at this point as well. I had my wife idle it up the street and I ran beside it like an idiot trying to isolate where the noise was coming from. Think I'm going to try the wait it out and hope it quits course for a while longer. Maybe try turning up the radio.
Thanks.

I found the clips you were talking about. $1.75 at O'Reilly's. Thanks!

You wouldn't think that little clip would make much difference, but it does. It holds the pad tight. That is what was left out on my brakes. I keep a few extras around now.
