Seems like every jeep that is in decent shape for a reasonable price has an auto in it in my neck of the woods. I've been doing some searching for clutch linkage kits, and I keep finding complete OEM kits for 76 and up, and misc. pieces for the 72-75 range. Not sure if there is some crossover or what...

Ive also seen the advance adapters chain drive kit, but I just wanted to see if there is a OEM kit that has all the parts for the 72-75 in case Im missing parts that are needed in order to use the AA kit.

Any info would be helpful,

Thanks

Do you have a specific Jeep to work with? I have a couple clutch linkages around the shop that I can get you, but I am unsure if there is a difference between years and drivetrains as well.
I think your best bet would be to set your sights on the Jeep you want, auto or not, then figure out what manual Transmission you want to put in it. Then go looking for parts to make that happen.

Going to look at a 74 that might be the one I pick up. Its got a GM 3spd of some sort behind a AMC 304 . Im going to be going with a toploader so the factory clutch linkage will work.

I actually found the linkage kit on 4wd.com but I can't find the pedal anywhere. No luck on ebay either. I believe the pedal is unique to 72-75s but may go later. Def. not earlier. Let me know if you have something and we can talk.

Trying to figure out how tough this is going to be so I can make the correct offer.

I have a pretty good selection of pedal assemblies available. What they are off of, I'm not sure on most of them...I am pretty sure that they are the same, and I am moving my personal '74 to the shop today so I can compare them to make sure it will work.

I've got a 74 too, so if you need a few comparison pics let me know...

I know that since I have heim jointed the fork push rod, it no longer pops off and binds up.

As far as full kit, I haven't seen one yet...

This was from: Jeep Clutch Parts for your Jeep CJ5, CJ7, CJ8 Scrambler at Morris 4x4 Center

Again though, there is a few upgrades to do for this system too...

:chug:

If it's stock, (not swapped) you should have a AMC 304 / T-15 / Dana 20 drive train in there.

Probably Dana 44 rear and 30 front. The gear ratio was 3.88 or 4.27 stock optional.

Just for some extra "info" on it...

All this from my very Limited experience mind you, so

Yup...modified obviously.

Heres my options....jeeps that dont run and are beat to poopie---@1850

Running 6cyl, totally neglected and unmodified for @2500

Modified, fairly nice, lots of extras, (tops, wheels and tires, etc) for @4-5k. Or they claim to be modded and nice and are :dung: when I get there.

I just wish all the modified ones didnt have a damn auto in them. 2nd one in a row and I didnt call several that were autos; but this one has a lot of spendy extras that Id want and appears to be in "really nice condition" as stated. Two hours away so hopefully its not a polished turd.

Hopefully its still got the bell crank and I can just put a modified clutch actuation system in...I know the factory ones weren't the best.

well wish me luck...heading out to look at another CJ5 ..........

Good luck... I get to drive 3.5 hours tomorrow to look at a CJ7 myself...

I compared my pedal assembly selection to my '74s pedals, and they are quite different. The pedals are much shorter in the '74 than every other assembly I have, so I guess I can't help you with that right now.

Check into a hydraulic setup. Std parts from a CJ. Slave and a master cylinder. Will work with most pedals 72-75 and 76+. Clutch will still work with massive frame flex. :D

Well thanks for looking...no matter though...another polished turd. Im just going to find the cheapest one I can because it seems that no matter the price or someones idea of how nice their jeep is, every one I go look it is about the same....falling apart.

This guy said he had brand new 35X12.5 BFG MTs. In fact he had four worn out pro comp mudders and ONE 32" BFG spare. In the pics you couldnt tell.

I could have pulled both fenders right off. Every component on the vehicle leaked and it ran like dirt. So much for "very nice condition". Im going to be a little harsher with my phone investigations from now on. This guy didn't purposely try and mislead..he just really didnt know.
