I have heard of people using the Cherokee column. You want a older one with out the airbag.

I myself have never done it but I have seen a few in CJs so it can't be that big of a deal. If I was to do it I would get one and then pull my old one and lay them next to each other and modify it to bolt in.

Not sure any tilt column is a bolt in for a 70's vintage CJ. I had to build/modify the brackets to make a GM column fit in my 75. It took a little time, but it wasn't too big of deal.

before 76 did not use the GM column. 76 and later are pretty easy, but that does you no good, sorry.
