1980 CJ7
Hi All,

I wanted to share this quick story about my Jeep. My 1980 CJ7 was purchased by my grandpa brand new and color gray in 1980. He put 2000 miles on it and stored it on his farm in a barn. It sat for 20 yrs until I was 16 and he had it fully restored (painted navy blue) for me to drive as my first car. I had it for 2 yrs until it started having engine issues. It then was sold one day w/o me knowing. My baby CJ7 was sold out from under me.

Well I just graduated college and I began to search for my old cj. I asked my insurance co. for the vin and I had a buddy do a DMV search.
So, here it is my buddy found my old cj for me. I went to the current owners house and offered to buy it back about 3 wks ago. At that time the current owner did not want to sell.

1 week ago the current owner of the cj called me and said he had a change of heart and he wanted to sell it back to me. So I went and bought my Navy Blue 1980 CJ7 back! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVER FIND IT AGAIN! It has been 9 years since I have had my Jeep and I absolutely loved that thing in highschool.

I have heard that a man is defined by his first car, or atleast that is true about me.

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar story about their CJ.

Share if you do...

Nice so when did you pick her up?

Oh and welcome to the site!!

Just 2 days ago and I still cant believe I found her. I never wanted to get rid of that Jeep I dont even care if she runs I still want it sitting in my drive way...

Holy :dung:!!! What great story!

I did not purchase my first CJ from the dealer but I am the second and only owner since then... I got it when it was six years old and have held on to it for thirty three years.... :)

It is my first vehicle and I will never let it go!

Yea thats how I feel too I have a company car so I dont drive mine everyday I simply save it for the weekends. What makes me sick is that the guy who bought it from my grandpa supposedly put a canoe rack on the jeep and attached it to the panels over the rear tires... He drilled holes through the body of the jeep, WHO IN THE WORLD WOULD DO THIS. This jeep looked like it came right from the dealership... haha I guess thats what happens when you let your jeep go but I got it back now...

Northface,

You have to remember it was HIS jeep when he drilled the holes.

Oh and trust me, a lot of people drill holes in their jeeps.:D:chug:

yep thats what the welder is for:chug: congrats on getting your baby back:banana:
