I want to make my own steering linkage since I have a Scout 44 with Dana 30 outers. I want to use the stock tie rods because they are strong enough for my application. I figured a build your kit would be the way to go but I only find prebuilt kits for a lot of coin. I am mainly not having luck finding the thread ends that weld to the tube. Who built there own using DOM tube and builder parts? Where did you buy it?

And of course I find the tube ends on the Jegs site right after I post this. Maybe buying some DOM and the ends will be all I need.

when I was running the front 30 I made mine out of (DOM) 1 1/4" od with 5/16" wall, that makes the Id. the right size to tap for the 11/16" stock tie rod ends.

I will throw out a couple ideas for you.Not knowing your experience level I may recommend something you already know ,but others could benefit too.
Herm the Overdrive Guy builds custom lengths that are very nice.If you do your own you will need a left and right hand tap.Welding rod end inserts to chrome-molly tube is TIG only for safety. No MIG. Have fun . mike s.:)

Like mstar said be careful it would be a really bad day if your weld breaks, Most factory applications you wont find welding anywhere in the steering because they are scared of the liability :chug: having said that I am looking at Partsmike.com when its time for my steering linkage
