I am replacing the AMC20 in my 1977 CJ5 with a Dana 44 from a 75 CJ5 .

Do the spring perches have to move??

Just because I broke my 20 doesn't mean you have to change yours.

this has been "in the works" for a pretty good while. I am going to build the "mother of all CJ axles". A Dana 44 with OX locker and disk brakes.:D

I can make you a deal on a gently used AMC20 open carrier with 3.54 ratio.:chug:

 I think the perches are they same but I'd take a tape measure to be sure.

With your housing and my locker and 4:10 gears someone could have a good rear.:D

Just heard from my brother, He measured the 44 and can you believe that the spring center is 3/4 inch wider than the 77? that means cut them off and weld the replacements 3/8" outboard. Ain't that a kick in the head!

With this in mind I think I shall order one of these kits:D

I am a bit curious how they are mounting the shocks with these mounts or maybe these are intended for the SOA mounting.

that is odd that they left them squared off instead if having a rad. for the axle tube cut in.

are you looking at the same picture I am??
