Is anyone running AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l stock head/cam/crank, with D.U.I. distributor w/Mc2100/1.08 if so what gap do you have the plugs, any vacuum or timing suggestions would be awesome. i'm looking for any info i can gather i'm really trying to get the best out of what i got, I'm at 5500 elev. and climb in the 8- 11.5 range then right back to the mile marker. Thanks Jeepers!

No tricks from the old time jeeper? wow! thanks anyway. :D

Spark plug gap for the performance distributors like the Team Rush setup or the hei are .045.

From where he's standing um.... Could have been most of us.

LOL!! Sorry i didnt mean age wise. :notworthy:

4.0 head and fuel injection and you'll never have to worry about elevation changes ever again since it adjusts automatically ....Just saying :D

Better yet dont be just another pressing from the cookie cutter.. T3/T-4 hybrid turbo, plug and index the pump for boost, box the carb and viola!!! To heck with altitude..But .045 would be correct but timing may be a bit trickier.. Driving from Colorado springs up to cripple creek with a similar setup required a timing change from time to time. I finally bought an msd timing knob so I could adjust the timing from the dash a few degrees. Worked well to the top of pikes peak as well... Colorado springs 6270'. Cripple creek 9500' pikes 14000'+

Good idea! Sometimes its nice to have that control in your hands. I prefer to let the computer mess with the timing on my behalf.

We live on both sides of the electronic fence around here.. Currently the powerstroke is down due to an electronic failure somewhere between the vss, abs, psom, and Transmission rendering it useless .the 7.3 idi 5 speed 4x4 4 door still runnin as far as the things that take me out into the middle of nowhere I prefer simple with no surprises. Computers fry, 9/16 wrenches don't. But boy when that powerstroke is runnin it sure do out pull that non turbo idi.

Almost forgot ,Davis unified ignition has an installation PDF for amc 6/8 cylinders that you may want to look at. I tried had no success downloading it.
