CJ brain got to me.....again. Figured I would share the madness. Not building a rock climber, mud bigger, or staying factory correct: Just love Jeepin everyday. Northern Alberta roads in winter qualify as "offroad" anyway.

I'm about 3/4 through this now but thought I would share a few of the little upgrades I am happy with.....34cea3ca56d5dbfe640b2034a338321f.jpg

Tuffy console (welded to a custom riser welded to the tub) so my stuff stays put. Skull shifter cause I'm a redneck. Tall Twin sticks (all three rest in my hand at that height so no more leaning to shift the t case on the fly.) cause front wheel drive is great for Diggin in low. Short throw shifter on an AX15 swap because I am tired of rebuilding T-5 junk. Never again.

Nice work ! Let's hear more about the TJ to CJ soft top conversion. I see a day in the future where CJ tops could be hard to get or at a rediculous price. Thanks

Here's the TJ softop fit. Pretty good. Not perfect but good. It's first fit so still a few little things to do. I will be adding an 1/8" flatbar under my tub rail to add a little more room for the lip of the top to tuck under completely. It needs to be higher to receive the wider plastic flange on the top.

I also will be chopping the rear "A" arm that goes to the back of the top. I want it to terminate on the lower arm of the roll bar at a 90 degree angle keeping firm pressure just above the rear window. It will also fold away much better that way. I'll use a chrome deck pivot (sport boat) to receive the chopped A Arm so I can have a quick pin release for easier top removal.

Here's the trick......

You will want the top windshield seal from a TJ. Get one now if your even thinking about this. Find someone parting out a TJ and buy that piece.

A little nip off the corner of the windshield frame on both sides is required to make it fit. Weld the seam (preferred) or seam seal it. The photo is pre-weld.

Take off your biking top rail (just sayin as it's in the photo).

Two fence post brackets, plus six of the flat bars that come with them were used as a temporary mockup until I can fab a better clamp/bracket. It works but it's ugly.

The rear A arm will press tight against the lower arm on the roll bar making it more effort to drop the top. That's why I will be chopping and fixing the A arm to the lower roll bar. If you have a tube bender you could likely make the factory setup work. I like my idea better.

You will want the rear bar that spans the tailgate. For stock CJs with drop down gates your on your own to see how that works out. My rear tub is now a YJ tub so I have the swing away gate.

If you have the family cage then you can bolt up the door surrounds to the head smackers.

I was contemplating adding removable bars but have had no time.

Mine is a suicide bar so the surrounds are held in place by top tension and the tab on the top frame ( you roll the surround into place top first tucking it behind the tab then seating it into the belt rail hole.

I drive at highway speeds everyday with this setup now and the top stays put. No noise. Even on really windy days.

If you don't get the clip part right the surround will smack you in the head over your third big bump.

Oh. The nifty little brass screws and washers holding the frame to the rigged bracket are from home despot or Lowe's (can't remember). Couple of bucks (bought three sets just in case). Worked like a charm.
